If you're experiencing shedding with your wig or have concerns before purchasing, we've consulted professional stylists to identify common causes and effective solutions. Below are some reasons for wig shedding along with remedies. If your issue persists, please don't hesitate to reach out to our dedicated customer service team
1. Shedding in the Lace Area: If shedding occurs in the lace due to knotting, you can detangle the hair effectively by following these steps:
a. Comb Gently: Work through the wig in small sections, hold the roots by your hand to support and gently comb your hair, little by little, start from the ends and gradually move towards the roots to avoid tangling.
b. Use a Wide-Tooth Comb: Opt for a wide-tooth comb to minimize damage and reduce the risk of breaking the fibers.
c. Light Detangling: For minor knots, apply a small amount of water and oil to make detangling easier.
2. Shedding After Washing: Improper washing methods can cause shedding. Here's how to avoid it:
a. Before washing, pls gently comb through the hair, holding the roots for support . If there are any tangles, carefully and slowly detangle them before wetting it to prevent tangling or matting.
b. When washing, rinse the hair in the direction of the water flow and avoid rubbing it, as rubbing can cause tangling. Avoid rubbing the lace or hairline, as these can lead to hair loss and lace unraveling.
c. Make sure to thoroughly wet all layers of the hair, not just the surface, for a deep clean.
d. After washing, lay it flat to dry. Do not hang it to dry to prevent the hair cap from deforming.
Attention: When detangling wet hair, make sure to blow-dry the wig cap and roots first, especially for curly wigs, as brushing wet curls may lead to shedding.
3. Shedding Due to Lack of Moisture:
Recouse: Usually, hair once collected from donors will be dry easily if it can't continue getting nutrition, and the cuticles can become misaligned. After that it will be shed or tangled if we can't continue to deep condition these hair with conditioners in our daily life.(PS:"for color wig" Color hair is dyed and will become more prone to drying than normal untreated natural black wigs.).
a. Maintain Moisture: It is important to use appropriate products to help maintain moisture and keep it in good condition. With proper care, hair can last anywhere from 6 to 12 months or even longer.
b. Essential oils: We use essential oils on the wigs before shipping to keep the hair hydrated and shiny. You can also add essential oils after washing, the best time is when the dripping stops. This will help lock in moisture and add a silky texture, which will make the hair smoother and less prone to tangling and shedding.
c. Product Recommendations: Hair oil, Conditioner, and silicone-free & sulfate-free shampoo will all help in caring for wig. Regular care is essential to maintain the hair’s condition. We recommend using a sulfate-free, silicone-free shampoo followed by a good conditioner. Adding oil to the hair once it stops dripping can also help lock in moisture and add a silky texture, which will make the hair smoother and less prone to tangling and shedding.
Attention: Avoid sulfate shampoos, as they dry out the hair and strip it of moisture.
4. Shedding from Pulling on Lace:
a. When wearing or adjusting your wig, avoid grabbing the hair directly attached to the lace, as this can cause serious damage to the lace.
b. A friendly tip: If you see TikTokers pulling on the lace in their videos, it's just for demonstration purposes to give viewers a clearer view. Their movements are very gentle, but for everyday use, it's best to hold the wig cap with both hands when putting on or adjusting the wig to protect the lace and extend its lifespan.
5. Shedding Due to Product Buildup on Lace:
Recouse: If foundation, glue, or other products are not properly cleaned after use, they can clog the lace and lead to hair shedding. Regular cleaning is essential to keep the lace clear and maintain the wig's quality. We would like to emphasize the importance of caring for the lace to maintain its quality and durability. Regular cleaning is essential to prevent product build-up, which can block the lace hole. Handing the lace carefully will also help minimize any potential shedding.
Washinig tips: To ensure the longevity and quality of your wig, please keep the following care tips in mind:
· Avoid Pulling on the Lace: The hair on the lace is hand-tied. Pulling forcefully can cause the hair in that area to fall out.
· Pre-Wash Preparation: Before washing, gently detangle the wig, holding the base to provide support. If you encounter any tangles, carefully and slowly work them out.
· Washing Instructions: When rinsing the lace area, avoid using high water pressure. Instead, place the wig in water and gently swish it around to reduce stress on the lace hairs.
· After washing the lace area, avoid rubbing or tugging with a towel. Lightly press a towel to absorb excess water, then let the wig air dry in a well-ventilated space.
Tips: To get a more beautiful look, you can try re-part the hair. If necessary, you can try to cover it with waterproof mascara.
6. Hair Wefts Shedding:
Our hair wefts are double-stitched and reinforced at both ends to prevent shedding. If you experience shedding, check for any openings in the weft and take preventive measures to avoid further issues.
Notice: It's normal to experience minimal shedding when you receive your wig. During the wig-making process, some loose hairs may float on the wig surface, which is also normal. You can gently shake or use your fingers to remove any excess loose hairs.
